FIX Protocol Limited (FPL), the non-profit industry association that owns, develops and promotes the FIX Protocol family of standards, is honoured that the FIX Inter-Party Latency (FIXIPL) Working Group has been shortlisted in the ‘Editor’s Choice’ category for the highly celebrated ‘Financial News Excellence in Trading and Technology Awards’. The award winners will be decided by a panel of judges and announced at a ceremony on October 4th in London.
Reading through the latest from TS-Associates, it was interesting to learn that their Application Tap® function now supports Windows, from the makers of Xbox. It got me thinking about how widespread the adoption of Windows is for low-latency applications, so I asked the company's CEO Henry Young for his thoughts.
Via a report sponsored by data feed handler specialists SR Labs, the benchmarkers at STAC have just announced data for initial tests run on Intel's recently-introduced Everest 'Overclocked' chip. Compared to Intel's standard Westmere chip, one data point suggests a 22% reduction in mean latency.
